FOR SENIORS IN THE HUMBOLDT COMMUNITY! 

 

LEARN DRAWING AND PAINTING SKILLS AND PARTICIPATE IN A PEER SUPPORT GROUP.

 

PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO PURCHASE THEIR OWN ART SUPPLIES FOR $165 AT THE ART CENTER IN ARCATA

CLASSES ARE BILLED TO MEDICARE AND OTHER INSURANCES​

Art for the Young at Heart

The Ink People Center for the Arts’ DreamMaker Program invites people 65 and older to participate in an online version of “Art for the Young at Heart,” an art class and clinically supported social engagement group. 

Classes taught by local artist Maureen McGarry and Co-Facilitated by Robin Wolff, LCSW

Classes begin 3rd week of July, 2020  

Class Topics

  • Intro and Elements of Design exercise (Acrylics).

  • Still Life in Charcoal

  • Still life in color (chalk pastels)

  • Portrait Drawing in charcoal, then pencil

  • Portrait drawing profiles

  • Portrait drawing from photo using grid

  • Figure drawing, gesture drawing using charcoal

  • Long pose figure drawing using erasers for highlights

  • Intro to watercolor, composition and technique

  • Color theory painting chart

  • Fall leaves- warm and cool colors

  • Drawing and painting landscape

  • Still Life painting

  • Portrait painting in watercolor

  • Watercolor Landscape collage

  • Larger format watercolor landscape  

 

Participant's artwork will be displayed on our website.
